An ultimatum from Summer Preston’s thesis advisor thrusts her into an unexpected collision with the hockey team’s captain, Aiden Crawford. She’s caught between conflicting desires of fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a sport psychologist and staying as far away as possible from the god-awful sport. And once she meets Aiden—well, let’s just say he confirms all her worst assumptions about hockey players.
Being the captain of the college hockey team has its perks, except when a reckless mistake by Aiden’s team threatens to jeopardize their entire season. As punishment, Aiden’s coach nominates him as the subject of a student research project. Participating is the last thing he wants to do, especially since the girl leading the project looks like she could wield his skates as a weapon.
Summer can’t stand Aiden’s blasé approach to life, and Aiden doesn’t understand why she’s twenty years old with a twenty-five-year plan. But their bickering soon turns to bantering—and once they let their guards down, there’s nothing to check their feelings.
⤖ My Review ⬻
I’d been eyeing Collide by Bal Khabra ever since it came out in 2023–have you seen that cover? The synopsis also intrigued me. So imagine how happy I was when Penguin Canada approached me to promote Collide, along with the third book in the series, Revolve, as well as The Holiday Honeymoon Switch by Julia McKay. I couldn’t say yes fast enough!
They all came packed in wrapping paper which I found so sweet and nice! (See my unwrapping below!) Unfortunately, I’m promoting and reviewing these a little late since my Instagram account was hacked and disabled just a few days after I said yes. But I’m yelling about them from the rooftops now!
Back to Collide! Surprisingly, this book took me a bit to get into, but I blame myself for reading Heated Rivalry right before. The pacing and vibe of Collide is completely different, and I needed a bit to adjust. Once I got into it, though, I flew right through! The lead characters had crazy chemistry that came to the forefront rather quickly, and I actually bought the second book in the series, Spiral, a few weeks ago because I want more from this author and universe. So stay tuned for my thoughts on this series!
